IHG’s latest and last points purchase promotion for 2022 is live now. You can get up to 100% bonus points, in other words – 50% off, on purchasing IHG reward points.

The offer is available until 29th, December 2022. It is required to buy a minimum of 5000 points to be eligible for bonus points.

Points purchase limit

There is always a limit on the number of IHG points you can buy in a year. With this promotion, you can buy a maximum of 250,000 points and get a bonus of additional 250,000 points. A total of 500,000 points can be purchased.

Note that the purchase limit is annual. e.g., if you have already purchased 50,000 points in 2022, you can buy 200,000 more. There is no cap on bonus points earned.

Don’t buy 23,000 or 24,000 or 25,000 points

IHG has a price slab change at 25,000 points. So purchasing 23,000, 24,000 or 25,000 points is costlier than purchasing 26,000 points. Keep that in mind!

Is it worth buying IHG points?

Normally, I would have straight away said no. However, 100% bonus make the value of points very attractive.

Currently, several hotels across the world are overpriced like crazy. At times, you can get a decent deal on points booking. I can easily think of instances where buying and using points can be cheaper than paying in cash.

At the same time, if you don’t have a travel plan where these points can be used, I would be advise to be careful. Points can get devalued anytime. Or, the properties that are expensive now can become cheaper post holiday season. You never know.
