After a major outage, IHG’s website and app seem to be working again. It is taking a lot more time than usual to access services on the site or app. However, that could be due to traffic surge after almost 3 days downtime.

I can view my points balance, account activity, elite status tracking, and milestone benefits tracking.

I am also able to view current and past bookings.

As far as making a new booking is concerned, it worked for me. But be prepared for several ‘Site is not responding’ prompts from Google Chrome. Being patience and clicking on ‘Wait’ helps. :)

However, points and elite night credits for my recent stays haven’t posted yet.

I will keep an eye on when they are posted. Delay in posting of new points is expected. I just hope that it happens automatically and smoothly without guests having to contact IHG for the same.

It is also not clear what will happen to guests who missed their cancellation deadline because they were unable to access the site or get in touch with the hotel or IHG hotline.

IHG confirmed that the site was hacked

IHG released a statement and conformed that the site was hacked. Plenty of people online guessed that it’s a hacking or, as they call it, ‘Unauthorized Access’ issue.

This is what we were expecting as well, since IHG couldn’t even put information about the outage on the website for almost 2 days. Possibility that they were locked out of the system.

We will wait for more information on what data was accessed by people behind it. Restoration of most services is a good sign.
