IHG and every other hotel chain often run promotions for new hotel openings. Bonus points, being one of the most common ones.

Currently, IHG is offering 2x reward points when you stay at a new (or relaunched) IHG property in Southeast Asia and South Korea.

These bonus points are in addition to ‘grand opening offers’ individual properties may have.

The grand opening offers generally include breakfast, hotel credits and occasionally an additional amenity or a welcome gift.

Remember that you need to book and complete your stay within 6 months of hotel opening to avail the offer.

Bottom line

There are some good promotions to be availed of when staying at a new property. On one hand, there are these extra perks, no disadvantages that come with outdated properties and some great photo opportunities.

On the other hand, there won’t be enough reviews to figure out how good or bad the property is. Hotel management will also have some kinks to iron out. Some hotels also launch without all their services being ready for public.

I like trying out new hotels and don’t mind a few issues here and there. It can be good fun.
