For frequent travelers who also happen to fuel their journeys with coffee (so, most of us), the Marriott Bonvoy and Starbucks Rewards partnership offers a straightforward way to earn on both sides of the equation.
How It Works
Link your Marriott Bonvoy and Starbucks Rewards accounts once, and you unlock three ongoing benefits:
- Double Stars during hotel stays – Make qualifying Starbucks purchases while staying at a participating Marriott Bonvoy hotel and you’ll earn 2x Stars instead of the standard rate
- Marriott Bonvoy points at Starbucks – During designated “Marriott Bonvoy Weeks,” earn 100 Marriott Bonvoy points after making 3 qualifying purchases (minimum $2 USD each)
- Points-to-Stars transfers – Convert Marriott Bonvoy points to Starbucks Stars at a rate of 1,000 points = 100 Stars, with daily transfers between 1,000 and 50,000 points
You can link your accounts here.
Marriott Bonvoy Week Schedule
These promotional weeks happen during the third week of select months. The current Marriott Bonvoy Week runs December 15–21, 2025, with the next one scheduled for January 19–25, 2026.
To earn the 100-point bonus:
- Make 3 qualifying purchases of at least $2 each
- Order via the Starbucks app or scan your rewards barcode at checkout
- Shop at participating U.S. Starbucks locations
Good to Know
- U.S. only – This partnership is currently limited to the United States
- Exclusions apply – Alcoholic beverages, gift cards, and eGifts don’t count toward qualifying purchases
- Hotel exclusions – Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy and The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection stays don’t qualify for double Stars
- One-way transfers – Points converted to Stars cannot be reversed, so plan accordingly
- Points deposit timing – Marriott Bonvoy Week points arrive within 2 business days after the week ends; transferred Stars arrive within 1-2 business days
The Verdict
The math won’t make you rich. At 100 points for 3 purchases, you’re earning roughly 33 points per transaction during Marriott Bonvoy Weeks – modest, but essentially free points for purchases you’d make anyway.
The double Stars during hotel stays is the more interesting benefit. If you’re already a Starbucks regular and frequently stay at Marriott properties, you’re leaving rewards on the table by not linking.
The transfer option (1,000 points = 100 Stars) is situationally useful. A 400 Star reward (like a handcrafted drink) would cost you 4,000 Marriott points – not the best redemption value if you have premium hotel stays in mind, but handy if you’re sitting on orphaned points.
Bottom Line
This is a “set it and forget it” partnership. Link once, and you’ll passively accumulate extra value on coffee runs during hotel stays and during promotional weeks. It won’t change your loyalty strategy, but it adds a small, consistent perk for those who live in both ecosystems.
