Should you buy?

With this promotion (35% bonus), the cost of each point comes down to approx. 0.93 cents. It’s possible to redeem Marriott Bonvoy points for a value of 1 cent each, but it can be a bit challenging to find such properties.

You can and should aim to benefit from Marriott’s 5th night free feature while using your points. This can lead to immediate savings of another 20%. Unlike Hilton’s fifth night free offering, this one isn’t exclusive only for elite members.

But remember that in luxury properties, you can achieve much better value than just one cent per point. Note that merely having 135,000 points won’t suffice for a 5-night (4 night points) stay at most high-end properties.

Purchasing with a Marriott Credit Card.

Marriott has clarified that the purchase of bonus points won’t earn you any additional credit card bonus points meant for Marriott expenses. The reason being, this transaction is classified as an ‘everyday purchase’ since the payment is made to the Points platform and not Marriott directly.

This rule will also apply to all cards offering extra points on hotel expenses, as this isn’t considered a hotel category expense.

Conclusion.

Marriott is giving a 35% (or up to 40%) bonus on buying 2000 or more bonus points from now until March 31st, 2024.

Note that your Marriott Bonvoy account must be at least a month old for you to be eligible to purchase points.

To make the most of this offer, ensure that you redeem these points for at least one cent per point in value.
