Starting 15 October 2026, you can transfer your World of Hyatt points digitally to another member, for free. You no longer need to fill out a form and email it to Hyatt to combine your points.

You could already share Hyatt points without paying a fee. The change is that you can now do it online, making it easier to combine balances with a partner, help a friend top up their account, or bring together enough points for an award stay.

How to Transfer Your Hyatt Points

Go to Hyatt’s Purchase, Share & Gift Points page. Under “Gift points or eligible awards,” select “Gift your points” and sign in to your account if prompted.

From there:

  1. Choose how many points you want to transfer.
  2. Enter the recipient’s first name, last name, email address, and World of Hyatt membership number.
  3. Review the details and confirm your transfer.

You’re sending points you already have in your account. This is separate from buying points as a gift.

Transfer Limits and Requirements

Before you send your points, here’s what you need to know:

  • Transfers are free, and your points move at a 1:1 ratio.
  • You need to transfer at least 1,000 points, with additional amounts in 500-point increments.
  • Your account and the recipient’s account must both have been open for at least 60 days.
  • You can transfer up to 525,000 points in a single transaction.
  • You can send up to 525,000 points and receive up to 525,000 points per calendar year.
  • You can make six free transfers per calendar year.

Your points will generally arrive within 24 hours, and some transfers are nearly instant. If your transfer needs additional review, though, it could take up to 10 business days. Leave yourself some time if you need the points for a specific booking.

When Would You Use This?

If you and your partner have points in separate accounts but neither balance is enough for the stay you want, you can move the points into one account and book from there.

You can also use it to top up a friend’s balance rather than leaving them to buy the extra points they need.

Before transferring, check award availability and decide whose account you’ll use to book. With six free transfers a year, it makes sense to combine what you need in one go rather than sending several small amounts.

How Does Hyatt Compare With Marriott and IHG?

Marriott lets you send up to 100,000 points per calendar year, compared with Hyatt’s 525,000-point annual sending limit. These are different points currencies, so the higher cap doesn’t translate directly into greater redemption value, but it gives you more room to move your Hyatt balance.

IHG also offers free points transfers for Diamond Elite members. With Hyatt, you don’t need elite status—both accounts just need to meet the eligibility requirements above.

Bottom Line

You don’t get extra points from this change, but you do get an easier way to use the points you already have. If you’ve avoided combining Hyatt balances because of the paperwork, you can now do it directly online.
