Marriott is currently running a promotion where they are offering a 40% bonus on the purchase of Marriott Bonvoy points. This offer will be available until December 20th, 2023. However, starting from November 9th, 2023, the bonus will be reduced to 30%.

To qualify for the bonus, you need to purchase a minimum of 2000 points. For the duration of this promotion, Marriott has also increased the annual purchase limit from 100,000 points to 150,000 points.

If you haven’t purchased any Marriott Bonvoy points in 2023, you can buy 150,000 (+60,000 bonus points) for US$ 1,875.00. 210,000 Marriott Bonvoy points for that price comes to ~0.89 cents per point. Buy or not?

It’s generally not a good idea to buy reward points without a plan to use them. There is always a risk of devaluation and limited availability of rooms on points when it comes to using reward points for hotel stays. It can be frustrating to have more than enough points in your account, and yet being forced to pay cash for a stay.

However, if you see some use for Marriott Bonvoy points in the near future, this promotion offers a pretty good value. Marriott Bonvoy points are best used with 5th night free promo, and for conversion to United miles at the rate of 30,000 United miles for every 60,000 points transferred.
