Marriott has launched a new global bonus points promotion. There is additional earning opportunity for Marriott Bonvoy credit card holders to encourage them to try other Marriott brands.
You need to register for the promotion by December 1st 2022 and complete your stay between September 21, 2022, and December 15, 2022.
Bonus 1: 2000 points per stay
You get 2000 bonus points per stay, starting from your 2nd stay. All stays need to be paid stays to be considered as part of the promotion. Award stays are not eligible.
Bonus 2: Additional 2000 points per stay
Marriott Bonvoy credit card holders can earn additional 2000 bonus points per stay, starting from their 2nd stay.
However, there is a catch.
The 2nd stay and every subsequent stay should be with a different brand to earn additional 2000 bonus points.
That’s 4000 bonus points per stay.
If you don’t hold a Marriott Bonvoy Credit Card, you are not eligible for the second bonus.
Conclusion
Marriott has unnecessarily complicated this promotion. 2000 points per stay is too less. Especially given the current Marriott prices worldwide.
If the objective is to get more paid stays, 2000 points won’t cut it.
They could have also kept the Credit Card users promotion as a separate promo.
