If your Australian travels take you beyond the major cities, IHG has signed two future Holiday Inn hotels: one in Tamworth, New South Wales, and one in Rockhampton, Queensland. Both will be operated by La Vie Hotels & Resorts.
Tamworth: a conversion planned for 2027
The existing 60-room Best Western Sanctuary Inn will become Holiday Inn Tamworth, with guestrooms, reception and restaurant refurbished. That work is targeted for completion in 2027.
A further 30 rooms are planned by 2029, taking the hotel to 90 rooms. It’s a conversion and expansion—not a completely new hotel.
Rockhampton: a new hotel with suites
Holiday Inn & Suites Rockhampton will be a new-build property with 100 rooms, including 40 one- and two-bedroom suites. Plans also include an outdoor pool and conference and events facilities.
The suite mix could make it useful for families or longer visits. No opening date has been announced.
For IHG One Rewards members, these are future options to keep in mind for regional trips. These are hotel signings, not openings, so don’t plan a stay around either operating as a Holiday Inn just yet.
