Planning a Mexico trip beyond Mexico City or Cancun? British Airways’ new partnership with Viva lets you book connecting journeys to 13 Mexican destinations under a BA flight code, with the whole trip bought in one transaction.
Bookings are open now for travel from 28 March 2027. Connections run through Mexico City and Cancun, linking Viva’s domestic flights with BA’s London services.
What changes for you?
- More destinations on one ticket: Options include Guadalajara, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta, Oaxaca, Mérida and San José del Cabo. The available connection depends on the hub.
- Avios and tier points: British Airways Club members can earn both on the codeshare journeys. BA’s announcement does not specify detailed earning rates or fare restrictions.
- Simpler booking: You can book the complete itinerary through British Airways rather than arranging the Mexican domestic flight separately.
The useful part is access to more of Mexico without having to piece together separate tickets. Still compare the total fare and check the baggage allowance and connection time before booking.
Don’t assume a Viva flight booked independently earns BA rewards. The announcement covers the BA-coded partnership; it does not mean Viva has joined oneworld or that every Viva ticket qualifies. Avios redemption availability has not been confirmed in the announcement.
