Royal Jordanian is offering 12 months of Gold Sparrow status—equivalent to oneworld Sapphire—to eligible hotel-status holders living in the UK or EU. Apply by 7 November 2026. The application fee is US$149 for qualifying mid- and top-tier hotel members.
You’ll need a UK/EU-issued payment card and must meet the residency and identity-document requirements. This is not a free status match, but it could be useful if you have upcoming oneworld flights without lounge access.
You can check eligibility and apply here.
Which hotel tiers qualify?
Examples eligible for the US$149 Gold Sparrow match include:
- Accor ALL: Gold, Platinum and Diamond.
- Hilton Honors: Gold and Diamond.
- Marriott Bonvoy: Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite and Ambassador Elite.
- World of Hyatt: Explorist and Globalist.
- IHG One Rewards: Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, Diamond Elite and Royal Ambassador.
- GHA DISCOVERY: Platinum and Titanium.
Check the official tier-matching FAQ for other participating programmes and the full mapping.
Selected lower tiers—including Accor and Hilton Silver, Marriott Silver Elite and Hyatt Discoverist—can get Gold Sparrow for US$248. They can alternatively match to Silver Jay for US$49, but that cheaper option does not give you oneworld Sapphire.
What do you get?
Gold Sparrow gives you oneworld Sapphire benefits on eligible flights, including:
- Business-class lounge access, generally with one guest.
- Business-class priority check-in and priority boarding.
- Additional baggage benefits, subject to airline rules.
The appeal is getting these benefits even when travelling in economy. Royal Jordanian’s upgrade vouchers are excluded from the match; you only get those after qualifying for the tier under the programme’s rules.
Matched status lasts 12 months. After that, you must requalify normally.
The catch: your flights must credit to Royal Club
The campaign’s terms say that if you use your Royal Club number to get oneworld status benefits on a partner airline, the associated flight activity will credit to Royal Club. Once credited, it cannot be reversed, transferred or credited to another programme.
Don’t assume you can use this status for lounge access while earning miles or working towards status in your usual programme.
Check eligibility before paying
You’ll need a Royal Club membership number and proof of your hotel status. Only one match per person is allowed, and approval is not guaranteed. Temporary or challenge-based status may be rejected; the general terms also exclude chain-matched status.
There is an eligibility wrinkle: the special hotel offer says UK/EU, but the general country and ID lists are narrower. If your country or document isn’t clearly covered, confirm eligibility with the operator before paying.
For eligible travellers with several oneworld trips planned, US$149 could be worthwhile. Compare the benefits you’ll use with the fee and the miles or status progress you’d give up elsewhere. Don’t leave the application until your next flight: approval and account updates take time, and the offer can end early.
